Our Story
Miconi Marble & Tile was founded in 1994 by David Miconi and David Shawn. David Miconi started his career in Ogden, Utah, where he honed his craft working with stone and tile. In the 1980s, he made the move to Marin County, drawn by the area's appreciation for quality craftsmanship and fine design.
It was in the Bay Area that he met David Shawn, an undergraduate at UC Berkeley who had a passion for the building trades. Shawn apprenticed under Miconi, learning the intricacies of marble and tile installation from one of the best in the business. Together, they opened Miconi Marble & Tile, combining decades of hands-on expertise with a shared vision for excellence.
Today, with over 60 years of combined experience between them, David Miconi and David Shawn continue to lead the company with the same dedication to quality that started it all.

What started as a small three-person operation has grown into a team of 23 dedicated professionals — including 4 in-house designers and 5 two-man installation crews. Our 6,000 square foot showroom at 1111 Francisco Blvd. East Suite B in San Rafael is the largest kitchen & bath showroom in Marin County, giving our clients the space and selection they need to envision their dream projects.

His expertise and willingness to share knowledge have made him a respected figure throughout the Marin County building community.
